Premise Storyboard

Below, a five-part storyboard that combines my previous sequence experiments into a cohesive narrative. I also included several shot additions, including establishing shots at the beginning, and further environment and character development shots throughout.

In part 1, the storyboard introduces the forest environment with characteristics inspired by Buddhism, shamanism and Shinto religions alongside elements of magic realism. We're also introduced to the moon spirit, a young girl residing within the supernatural forest.

In part 2, the story focuses on the moon spirit as she discovers a kami phenomenon in a forest clearing; a swarm of spirits resembling jellyfish and other sea life. We're also introduced to the moon spirit's companions (or) counterparts, the Yin and Yang characters. Yin and Yang are kami spirits, the moon spirit girl is a human or physical manifestation of these two spirit counterparts.

Part 3 explores the forest environment and how the trio of characters interact with their surroundings. We learn that the moon spirit acts as a botanist, learning to care for the strange forest and its spiritual residence. Yin and Yang are always close by, the group have a strong tribal bond. Props such as a rusty Heinz can subtly hint at a lost civilisation similar to our own...

Part 4 focuses on Yin and Yang as individual characters. Despite being Kami spirits themselves, the two characters have an aura of alienation or childishness, and observe their surroundings curiously.

Part 5 reveals a modest wooden cabin amongst the woodland, home to the moon spirit. Through a window, elements of her personality and interests are revealed by her personal belongings.
