Toolkit 2: Maya Pt 2
Subtle Poses Using Moom
Following on from last weeks Maya workshop, I used the same Moom character set-up to replicate realistic subtle poses. This session discussed the importance of detail, and how realism can be lost when the subtleties are missing; finger placement, expression, shoulder movement e.t.c. relaxed and idle positions are impossible to capture without incorporating detail. Last week's Maya posing practice definitely helped with this weeks task; I captured poses quicker and more effectively by using common rules such as 'move the main body cog first' and following either C or S spine curves. Using a pre-built model is also teaching me how to professionally use controls without damaging the rig or jeopardising the geometry.
