Toolkit 2 Character Design: Developing a Villain

The designs below construct a third character for my Toolkit 2 project, an antagonist. He's inspired by butterflies for an unusual contrast to his personality. His wings help create a strong and distinguishable silhouette. This character was once a young star favoured by working class bugs for his promise of a better future. He's now an aging, bitter and corrupt power.

Above, I tried to decide on the basic anatomy of the character.

Above, my developments on the face and wing placement. I also experimented with face expressions at different angles.

The wings would be an important part of the character as they can represent his personality and his past as a young celebrity. As he ages, his wings would deteriorate along with his personality.

Above, a final wing design concept. Reds and golds suggest extravagance and wealth , but these colours will be muted on the aging character to show his fall from fame and a new life of corruption.
