From Script To Screen: Idea #3
Concept:
Set in a school gymnasium science fayre, two students battle for first place. Each student must use their tools and talents to out-do their opponent.
Ticking Clock: The Judges decision on the winner of the fayre.
Backstory: Ongoing feud between both characters?
Encounters: Fayre Visitors, Judges.
Challenges: Out-smarting opponents, winning the competition.
conflicts: both students against each other.
goals: Win the MacGuffin, the fayre trophy. This object is a MacGuffin in the story because its form doesn't effect the plot.
3 Act Structure possibility:
Act 1:
Both Characters are introduced, both stalls are in close proximity to each other.
The protagonist, the boy with the van de Graaff Generator, resolves to beat his opponent no matter what. The opponent being the girl and the angler stall.
Act 2:
The two battle behind the watchful eyes of the fayre judges. Being caught would jeopardize their chances of winning.
The boy is able to counter the attacks of his enemy, putting up an even fight. The battle begins to climax, tension builds.
Act 3:
Both characters are kicked out of the fayre. They realise that there was no trophy to begin with, only a participation award. The two characters are the only fayre-goers to not receive one. A realization, both discover that their goals and actions were wrong. Instead of a happy resolution, the two team up and plan revenge.
