Character Workshop - Humanoid Characters

Line Of Action

The line of action Is the focal dynamic of a characters position. The eye will be drawn along the body when a string line of action has been used. A character's posture should be dynamic; attitude, force, movement. Stiff and rigid characters can't communicate emotion. Exaggeration also helps to create a more dynamic pose.

Anatomy

Human anatomy follows a subtle zigzag pattern of mass. Mass can be build upon an initial skeleton, this creates a solid and believable pose as joints and limbs connect correctly. Mass should include a variety of curves and straights, variation is more appealing in a character design. Mass can also help create and emphasise personality.
