Fantastic Voyage - Matte Painting #1

This matte painting will support the opening shot of my animation. The empty green space at the bottom of the image will be cut off and replaced by a 3D plane and modelled train tracks.
After considering my concept art pieces, I decided to stick with the green and pink pastel palette that I had initially disliked. This piece differs from the concept art; shading and darker tones removes the shallowness that the original image had. I also solidified the 'graphic novel' inspiration by overlaying a dotted pattern in the background, giving the image more texture.
If I dislike the matte painting in my Pre-Vis, I can always adjust the colours in Photoshop before moving on to the final animation.
