Fantastic Voyage - Sketching

A rough coloured study of an ideal location for my animation to take place. The structure and sign create a little extra interest in the composition, but these could easily be replaced by more suitable props, possibly something that links to my tree marking character.

Before settling on the 'graphic novel' style for my animation, I did some exploration into polygon modelling, and the minimalistic aesthetic this can achieve. Not only is this style visually pleasing, but It would make life easier when I begin my 3D animation. However, I eventually discarded this style, as I don't think it ties strongly to themes of graffiti, and seems very unoriginal when applied to a 'mushroom life cycle' narrative. I think something more gritty and florescent would be more interesting.

A sketch of my potential 'tree marking' character. I aim to keep him/her generic, since they're insignificant to the main subject matter, and are only included to initiate the narrative.
Theme and style exploration, focusing on line art and colour schemes. Since my animation is set in a forest location, I felt it important to give trees some stylisation focus, along with the beginnings of some mushroom designs. I also gave the 'polygon' style another go, but I prefer the other outcomes compared to the little girl character.

I'd like to incorporate graffiti by having a train passing through the beginning of my animation. This will hopefully solidify this theme's relevance to my story, along with the spray paint on trees. I sketched out additional props that I may need to develop upon at a later date.
